Is your local TAFE campus looking like a ghost campus?
Enrolments for TAFE continue to fall with the latest figures showing a there are 72,105 fewer students enrolled this year.
Estimates also revealed that the cost of TAFE splitting from the Department of Education has been an estimated $40 million while the value of a failed back office computing software program has been written down by $35 million.
Mr Marshall’s TAFE bureaucrats also revealed that because the failed computer system failed to log 400,000 student marks TAFE won’t receive the funding for each student under the legislation. TAFE will now have to cut costs to make up the shortfall.
Shadow Skills Minister Prue Car says
“Now we know why the Berejiklian Barilaro government didn’t want to disclose these figures in the budget because they show that their relentless cuts are taking a toll on student enrolments.
“This drop in enrolment figures is proof that students aren’t enrolling in TAFE because the course has been cut, fees are too high and there isn’t the staff to teach them.
This is a total disgrace and a terrible indictment on the Berejiklian-Barilaro government’s wrecking of TAFE.”
